BLOSSOM WALK 2007

We've finished our fifth Blossom Walk, knocking about 5 minutes off of our 10K walking time of last year. The weather was perfect for walking. Cloudy with a few sunny breaks, and with temperatures that were cool but comfortable. Most importantly, no rain! Each year, it seems to get easier to walk this distance, but no one reallly has a hankering for tackling a longer distance. The course wends its way around Esquimalt, starting and finishing at the Archie Browning Arena. Given that it was jut announced a few days ago that Esquimalt was going to shut down this arena, it will be interesting to see where the Blossom Walk goes next year.
A photographer and writer followed us around for a little while, saying that we are the 'highlight' of the walk every year. There were quite a few pictures taken while we were out on the course (as well as a whole bunch when we got back to the arena), so we'll see if we end up in the local newspaper or on the festival's website at some point. Jared, our very own photographer, was quick with the shutter throughout the walk, catching us and the dogs in unguarded (and often embarassing) moments. We're not sure that we want to see the results of his labours, but we're sure he'll be having a good chuckle as he downloads today's pix!
After we completed the walk, got our control cards stamped, and picked up our pins and certificates, we headed off to Boston Pizza—where the food was good but the service wouldn't win any medals. We were all starting to nod off after the morning's exertion, aided and abetted by some quenching libations. All then headed home, most thinking, no doubt, of curling up for a nap for a couple of hours.
Many thanks to Brianna for keeping us organized!
