PADDLE FOR KIDS

In 2006, the Dog Paddlers headed over to Vancouver to participate in the annual "PADDLE FOR KIDS" event, in support of the BC Children's Hospital Foundation. This great one-day fund-raising event was a lot of fun, with a serious purpose. Last year, the Dog Paddlers came tenth out of 25 teams, mastering the intricacies of moving backwards, forwards and sideways through the course. Even more importantly, the Dog Paddlers did exceptionally well in their fund-raising efforts, not bad at all for a team participating for the first time. We were also the only team from Vancouver Island, and the organizers were very helpful in ensuring that the timing of our first race gave us ample time to arrive by ferry for the day. Did you know that in 2006, there were around 6,000 visits to BC Children's Hospital by kids from Vancouver Island?
