REMEMBRANCE DAY

Meredith, Zack and Abby walked downtown to the Town of Sidney's Remembrance Day ceremony. Pretty impressive for a small town. There were the usual readings, prayers, hymns and music, poignant as always. Many, many groups laid wreaths. There was even one laid by the Burma Star group, to which Dad had belonged. I was really surprised to hear that group announced. The people who served in that theatre of war don't generally get much profile, so it was very gratifying to see them represented.

During the two minutes' silence, a Cormorant helicopter from the local squadron flew over the crowd. Coincidentally, commercial airliners flew overhead at some other key moments, almost like they were doing flypasts as well.

Abby and Zack were very well behaved, sitting quietly admidst all the people, for almost an hour. Although it was cool and windy, I think all the surrounding bodies kept the pups warm and cosy (not to mention that they were wearing their coats as well; Zack's camo coat was inadvertently somewhat appropriate to the occasion!)
