Abby and Zack have just finished their first-ever runs in an official agility trial. They didn't have any qualifying runs, but they didn't do too badly for their first times out. Zack was entered in two Steeplechase runs, Abby in one. They made little mistakes here and there, but the funniest thing that both of them did was to stop dead in their tracks when they spotted the judge in the middle of the course. For some reason, his presence caught them totally by surprise. They hadn't taken any notice of the judges at the ScallyWaggs fun trials, so this reaction was something new. So...there they are, running happily through the course...and they spot him. Screech to a halt. Tails up, ears forward. Abby even woofed at him. Stared at him intently. Zack did one better by deciding to go take a closer look at him. But when the judge raised his hand to point him back in my direction, Zack

took that as an invitation to start immense wiggle-bum tail wagging and to come in even closer to the judge to say hello. Eventually however, he turned around and got back to work. We'll be back at the Agriplex at the Saanich Fairgrounds bright and early tomorrow and Sunday, to see what other mischief we can get into.
