She's watching the Island Dog Sports gang competing in their one and only run at ScallyWaggs' summer agility trial. Unfortunately, this trial conflicted with the Victoria Dragon Boat Festival so we were only able to come and play with the 'pirates' on Friday evening.
Abby, Zack, Emma, Swift, Joe and Pecos took to the field at Blue Heron Park in Sidney to run a Jumpers course—which, as it sounds, has lots and lots of jumps. And one tunnel. All of our dogs were in the Novice category. Abby ran clean, but she just wasn't quick enough to get around the course in the time allowed. On the positive side, she stayed focused for the entire run. Zack zoomed around the course and picked up his first Jumpers Q. Emma put in a clean and speedy performance as well, and earned a Q and a first place ribbon. Pecos, in his very first official agility run, also pulled out a Q and a first place ribbon (we think we have Ann hooked now....her very first Q ribbon is purple and black...and you know how much she loves purple!). I can't remember whether Joe got his Q in Jumpers or not...but I hear from Cindy that he had a very good rest of the weekend. And Swift? Well, Swift's jumping has really improved: she sailed over all the jumps with room to spare...except for the first one. We'll have to figure out how to launch her more vertically on that introductory jump!
By the time our dogs got to run, it was twilight...so I wasn't able to get any great pictures of the evening's efforts. Below are a few slightly fuzzy ones that were the best I could manage.
