Gemma is four months old, born December 15, 2008. She's from Lone Butte, BC. She comes to me courtesy of the two Vals....Valerie from here on the Peninsula, who was Sami's breeder, and Val, another Silky breeder who lives in the Interior. When this little girl needed a home, they thought of me, wondering if maybe I was ready for another puppy so soon after losing Sami. It took me a little while to make the decision, but I finally decided to give her a go. Gemma caught a ride with her Grandfather, Cappy, who was being brought down from Lone Butte by Cliff (Val's husband) to breed Sami's mom, Gypsy. Valerie and her husband Al met Cliff in Conquitlam and picked up both dogs. A big thanks to Valerie and Al for being Gemma's ferry chaperones, and to Cliff for the limousine service from the Interior!
So far, everyone seems to be getting along, although Abby is still a little bit stand-offish...but then she usually is! One of Zack's litter brothers is Gemma's dad, making Zack Gemma's uncle. Technically, Abby is Gemma's aunt, as she and Zack have the same parents although they're not from the same litters.

Hi Gemma!
Welcome to life on the Island! You have joined an awesome home, with awesome neighbours, and I can hardly wait to meet you!
Speaking of relations (I'm not sure that I understand everything in your family tree--i.e., isn't Abby your aunt?) I am your mother's first cousin on her mother's side so that makes me your cousin too, I believe, which makes Martha and Joe your aunt and uncle too, and my children (and cat) your second cousins somehow. I think. Maybe.
Welcome to Sidney!
Cousin Laurie
Whoops!
I see that Abby is indeed your aunt (having just reread that convoluted bit). So, since your mother and Martha are sisters, that makes Martha your aunt and therefore Abby is her sister too although she is your mother's daughter.
Time for a G & T to soothe my convoluted brain--it's only 1:18pm here, but as your great-great aunt (my mother) used to say, "the sun is over the yardarm somewhere in the world!".
love,
cousin Laurie
p.s. on second thought, a cup of tea might just do the trick. For now...
