BACKYARD NATURE NOTE

In the spirit of the Christmas season, when we all sit down to a tasty bit of bird, here's a denizen of my backyard getting a jump on the season with its own "hot off the grill" menu of sparrow-served-on-the-fence. It had flushed the sparrow from my side hedge moments earlier.

Oooooo! A NEW post! (I shouldn't complain b/c your lovely newsy Christmas letter arrived on Friday, but I've been checking here faithfully several times a week)

You must be a wicked Scrabble player..."denizen"...wow...

So, um, just what kind of bird did the devouring? Is it safe to let little dogs outside (I'm thinking that cats can look after themselves).

love from the about-to-get-seriously-cold Ottawa!

Dearest Blogger Cousin,

I've been thinking about this event throughout the holidays, and I'd really like to clear my brain of this death and focus on the antics of cute little dogs and a royal cat of your acquaintance.

Please???

love,
the Ottawa cousin xo
