WAGGING-GOOD TIME AT WITTY'S

Our annual spring trek down to Witty's Lagoon at low tide on Saturday morning was a ton of fun for the dogs. The farther down the trail to the beach that we got, the faster the pace the dogs seemed to set. They knew where they were going for sure! And they know that this is the place that they get to run like maniacs up and down the tidal flats and go splashing into the ocean to fetch whatever has been thrown by their assembled human servants. Their minions are, of course, armed with their cameras, all the better to record this insanity for posterity. We couldn't have ordered up a better day, weather-wise. Sunshine. Blue sky. Not too hot; not too cold. In other words, absolutely perfect.

The Silkies are still not too fond of actually going into the water, but Zack continues to get more adventuresome and makes small forays into chest deep water, especially if you throw something for him. Not keen on swimming as yet. Gemma was kept busy chasing and being chased by Chloe, and Abby did her level-best to supervise the goings-on, when she wasn't occupied in exploring the finer points of rotting-things-on-the-beach. All three of them also discovered the joys of clam-digging. Zack figured this out first; he must have seen a little jet of water or something that attracted his attention, and once he determined that that meant that there was something of interest under the sand, he put his digging skills to work. Such energetic antics of course attracted the attention of Abby and Gemma, joined quickly by Chloe. The four of them probably deemed this activity safer than being trampled and splashed by the big-dog contingent in the surf.

All in all, a wonderful time was had by all. Below, some pictures from the morning's fun. To see more, go to my Flickr site: http://www.flickr.com/photos/26205675@N07/
