Well, need we say more???? The Dog Paddlers kicked it up a notch into the Platinum Division at the Nanaimo Dragon Boat Festival this weekend. Much to our surprise. Much to a lot of other teams' surprise as well, we heard. Out of a 50-team field in the Mixed Division, the Dog Paddlers finished 5th overall, winning the Platinum B final. It was a close race, and hard for us to tell from the water who had won, but we got the great news while we waited on the dock for our coach's team to finish their race (the Platinum A final—in which they captured the silver medal...way to go, Coach Jacob!).
The Dog Paddlers seem to love the rough water, as both our Saturday and Sunday afternoon races were speedy, surfboarding, rock-and-rolling wild rides over big waves, cross-currents and winds—with great starts, steady middles and with power and speed still to spare in the finish. It felt great to put all the pieces together. Our time of 2:11:66 was the 4th fastest of the finals.
The dogs are on the prowl....look out Victoria...someone's let the dogs out!!
