YING & YANG

Sami has had a bit of a rough week. He 'crashed' on Monday, starting with some non-stop vomiting in the morning. Off to the vet, where he was left for observation the rest of the day. I saw him at suppertime—and he was a very sick-looking puppy. He was still too sick to come home with me, but instead went home with Lori, the vet. The next day, he was still not the happiest of campers, but had some blood tests done, and several ultrasounds (in addition to the one he'd had the day before). He appears to have some 'sludge' in his gall bladder, and when his blood tests came back, there were some indications that there might be some liver involvement. He also had an elevated white cell count, so he was put on to antibiotics for the next two weeks.
When he came home Tuesday evening, he seemed to be bouncing back, and tore around after his brother and sister...happy to see them, I'm sure. I took him to work with me on Wednesday so that I could monitor him. He snoozed on my desk for most of the day. Very well behaved. He's been pretty much normal ever since, so hopefully whatever this was is something that has come and gone. But no guarantees on that. He has another vet appointment on Tuesday, at which point he'll have another round of blood tests and another ultrasound.
Today, he went with me to see Mom...I plopped him down in her lap and he settled right in for a long nap while she and I talked. She was very pleased that Sami seemed so happy in her lap.
Abby seems to have totally accepted Sami into the family (see below). Zack is still thinking it over, but lets Sami curl up next to him on the bed at night, without too much complaint. Abby and Sami wrestle with each other; Zack hasn't decided that it's OK to let his guard down to play with him as yet. All in good time, I'm sure.
Below, Abby and Sami curl up together...almost like the Ying and Yang symbol.

Poor Little Sami!

Are you sure your Mom checked to see if she still has both rubber gloves, her superball, and all her marbles? ;-)

Get well soon, Sami. You may come and sleep on my lap anytime. Often, in fact. My Maggie-Cat will just have to learn to love you, as I already do.

xo to you and your Worried Mom
