Then there was all the yardwork to do on Saturday...after the walk at Beaver Lake. There were only a few of us there—just me, George, Shirley and Brian (and Abby, Zack, Gemma, Maggie, Swift, Emma and Scherzo). We just did the short loop, and then let the dogs have a play in the lake.

Zack discovers that the water was colder than he thought.
Gemma contemplates whether to jump in or not.
Getting braver...

On second thought, no....

Border Collies don't care if the water is cold...as long as they get to chase a stick!
Sunday—well, Sunday was ScallyWaggs fun trial, out at the barn where we Island Dog Sports folk have our regular practices. Everyone was duly impressed with the facility, particularly the fact that it had an actual, real bathroom. And when the weather heated up later in the afternoon, it was still a nice cool temperature inside the barn...much appreciated by all. The trial went at a very leisurely pace. Lots of folks with mulitple dogs, so not as many cars to park as one might have thought. No mythical Qs for Abby or Zack on the day...but we learned a few things, so that's all that matters. I was on my own; no other Island Dog Sports folks at this fun trial. Peni was running a half marathon; the Horels were at a dance recital; Cindy is in Texas, I think; and I'm not sure what everyone else was doing.
Gemma came along for the day, and was appropriately fussed over by everyone. She didn't do any runs of course, but you'd have thought she did because at the end of the day, she was just as tired as the other two were. All three just laid around, zonked out for the evening. I think she was just tired from all the social interaction. Plus she really seemed to enjoy watching the dogs run the agility course. I would periodically take her out of the crate she was sharing with Abby and Zack, and walk over with her in my arms to watch other dogs do their runs. Her little head would swivel as she watched each dog on the course. Very attentive. Hopefully she's taking little mental notes for when she gets to compete!

If you're finished your yardwork, I have some to share...but only if you bring little Gemma along for me to meet!
It's been a coolish, wet Spring out here in the nation's capital, and so everything is lush, not burnt to a crisp (including me) (well, I'm not sure about the lush part).
10 days left in school, 10 days before my course starts, and then I can play a bit!
love to Abby and Zak and Gemma and Bridget & the neighbouring gang :)
