IN THE SWIM OF THINGS

Another hot day on southern Vancouver Island. All the more reason to enjoy a walk on the Ed Nixon Trail, out at Langford Lake. Nothing better for the dogs than a dip in the lake to cool off. The Silkies, of course, were more in spectator and wading modes—they didn't seem to want to give swimming a try today, although they did get wet...at least up to their tummies.
Several of the dogs tried dock-diving, which, once a few of them had discovered this new activity, seemed to be their preferred method of entry into the water—particularly if there was a stick being thrown. All the better to get a jump ahead of the dogs heading out from the shoreline.

Dearest Puppies,
Why don't your humans ever take a dip??? That lake sure looks inviting, from where I sit :)

I'm now dog-sitting your canine cousin Achilles in Manotick (until Aug.17th).

Yesterday was Ottawa's first summery day, with a high of 28 and SUNSHINE (a lost art around here). I abandoned the pooch to head out to the local pool for 3 hours, my first swim of the summer.

Today I made up for his neglect by doing a 4k jaunt with him in the morning misty rain, and now we are hanging out listening to Palestrina and the thunder and watching the rain pour down...

We've seen a cedar waxwing couple, a great blue heron, a cardinal couple, ducks and chickadees so far today.

There's a Buster Keaton movie (the General) playing tonight as part of Manotick's 150th celebrations. Have lawn chair, will travel to see it (if the rain stops).

love and hugs!
