Abby minded her "Ps"....and got a Q! Today at the AVID agility trial at the Saanich Fairgrounds, Abby made it all the way around the course...without peeing! Or visiting the judge, or the timers or the ring crew. And she did it under the time allowed, with just one fault This is her very first Q in either AAC or NADAC.
We had only entered the trial for Sunday, as I had to work on Saturday. I had entered Zack in three runs and Abby in just one, as Abby hasn't seemed 'ready for prime time' in her previous outings at trials. But she beat out Zack in the Standard Starters round. Zack slowed down on pretty much all the contacts, but eventually completed the course. I think all his faults were time faults.
It was blistering hot at the fairgrounds, and on Zack's second run, in the Steeplechase, he just didn't have the oooomph to get himself up over the A-Frame. He'd make it almost to the top, and then he'd start to slide backwards. He finally made it over on the third try, but then when the A-Frame loomed again later in the run, he just didn't have it in him. The buzzer sounded, and I plucked him off the A-Frame, and that was that. I decided that it was too hot and too late in the day to have him stay to do his third run, in Jumpers Advanced. That can wait for another day when the heat isn't so oppressive. A lot of people were scratching their dogs from runs because of the heat as the afternoon progressed.
