Welcome!

Join me as we have fun with our dogs, and then paddle along with the Dog Paddlers—a dragon boat team in Victoria, Canada. You'll meet my Silky Terriers—Abby, Zack, Sami and Gemma—and their feline sister, Bridget. Share with us the joys and challenges of strengthening the human-canine bond as we participate with our dogs in canine agility, trailwalks and canine freestyle.

ANOTHER CANADA DAY CANINE

While Abby had a quiet morning on Canada Day, Zack went with me to participate in Sidney's Canada Day Parade. I figured that there would be too many people and too much noise for Abby at this event—the half of the Sidney population that wasn't in the parade was watching the parade. It would have been a bit overwhelming for her. Just as well I didn't take her, as it turned out that the group behind us in the parade—called "Organized Chaos"—were a percussion group that played non-conventional instruments...like garbage cans, garbage can lids and, of course, the kitchen sink. Even Zack was a little spooked by them.

So I decked out Zack in some red bling and he walked with me beside our park truck as we handed out paper flags and maple leaf tattoos to the kids along the parade route. Below, Zack sits with me in the back of the pick-up as we await the start of the parade, and then sets off with us as the parade gets moving.
